Elmer Elsworth Neill

January 7, 1931 ~ March 23, 2014 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Elmer Elsworth Neill, also known as Neill by most, went to heaven March 23, 2014 with his family by his side at home in Menifee, California. He was 83 years old.

He was born on January 7, 1931 to Robert and Ople Neill in Oak Grove, Missouri. He is one of 11 brothers and sisters. Just out of high school Elmer joined the Marine Corp Company C 1-5 and he fought in the Korean War in 1951. He lived his life as a proud Marine and American citizen.

Elmer met Charlotte Summers in California while stationed at Camp Pendleton. It was love at first sight and they married in 1952 in Arkansas. They returned to California where Elmer worked most of his career as a Construction Manager for the Austin Co. He supervised the construction of buildings all over California.

After retiring in 1995, Elmer and Charlotte moved to the Hemet/Menifee area where he took up golf as a hobby. Elmer loved to golf with his buddies and met with them once a week for a golf game at the local club. For the past 2 years, Elmer and Charlotte have lived at Menifee Lakes Country Club, where several of his Austin Co friends also live.

Elmer loved fishing and camping in his RV. Elmer and Charlotte traveled and camped all over the United States. Elmer never went to a campground without meeting a new friend. They traveled the west coast with their best friends Bo and Sandy. Every year Elmer and Bo‘s family met in the Eastern High Sierras for opening day of trout season. This was a fishing, camping, laughing, sharing, and eating extravaganza! We all have such wonderful memories of our annual fishing trip for over 20 years.

Elmer was loved by all. He would do anything for anyone and never met a stranger. He especially loved his wife Charlotte, kids and grandkids. He couldn’t wait for the next family gathering. He will always be in our hearts. We are honored to call him Dad and Grandpa!

Elmer is survived by his wife Charlotte and their 4 children: Cynthia Sue (Richard) Cleveland, Sherrye Lynn (Bruce) Loveland, Wesley Alan (Kelly) Neill, Jeanie Marie (Jeff) Evens. Elmer was the proud grandpa to 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Family was everything to Elmer. He was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother and Uncle. He will be missed!

Memorial Services will be held on April 2, 2014 at 12:30 pm at the Evans-Brown Mortuary 27010 Encanto Dr., Sun City, and CA.
