Karl Hoffbauer

June 17, 1924 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Born June 17, 1924 in Los Angeles, California.   Died May 29, 2017 in Eastvale, California.

Loving husband of Virginia Hoffbauer, loving father of Daniel Hoffbauer, Karla Davis, Julene Smith, Glenn Faircloth, Donna Westfall.

Karl Hoffbauer grew up in North Hollywood, California during the Great Depression.  His father Charles passed away in 1940 and at the age of 16  Karl and a companion “ran away” to Grants Pass, Oregon to look for work and adventure.   He had been involved in the Golden Gloves program and was busy planning his future when World War II burst on the scene.  In February 1943 he was drafted into the Army and spent the next 2-1/2 years as the guest of Uncle Sam—serving in Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany.  In September 1945 he was honorably discharged and returned to civilian life.

In 1946 Karl married Barbara Bates, and along with “Bobbie’s” daughter Christine (her father was killed in the Battle of the Bulge), settled down in Burbank and built a family, with daughters Julene and Karla and son Dan.   He owned and operated a flooring store in the 1950’s, then became a wholesale sales representative.   The family moved to Toluca Lake, where he excelled in auto sales from 1964 to 1974.

Bobbie Hoffbauer died in 1974.   During that time he became involved in an auto accessories manufacturing business—Chrome & Road Specialties—in 1974 with his son Dan and his new-found lady Virginia.   In 1976 he married Ginger and they were together until the day he died.   Ginger’s family—sons Steve and Glenn (Steve passed away tragically), and daughter Donna, along with her husband Bob, also became involved in the family business.

In 1990 Karl and Ginger moved to Fallbrook and soon thereafter joined the congregation at Living Waters.  Karl retired from the business in 2000, but had always stayed involved and active until the ultimate sale of the business in 2008.

Karl leaves his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
