Leta Mae Carlisle Davis Hillery, age 86, of Sun City, CA passed away on April 23, 2017.
Leta was born near Temple, Texas on Dec 17th, 1930. She was the third child born of a family of six girls and one boy. She graduated from Temple High School in May 1948 and attended Bethany Nazarene College where she met Wayman Davis in 1950. Wayman and Leta were married on December 27, 1951 and were married for just shy of 49 years until Wayman passed away in October 2000.
Her first Child Jeff, was born in June of 1956, followed by Tim in October 1958. Her Daughter Donna, was born in July of 1961. Leta was a pastor’s wife as Wayman was a pastor for the church of the Nazarene for 45 years. Leta played the piano, loved to sing and sang solos and duets in church and sang in the choir. She was always actively involved in the ministry of the church and enjoyed hosting an open house around Christmas every year for the church family.
Leta, Wayman and their children moved to California in 1964.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, collecting antiques, doing various crafts and decorating her house. She loved birds and collected bird pictures and plates. She enjoyed visiting her family in Texas along with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite vacation trip was when Wayman and Leta went with 6 other pastors and their wives to Hawaii for almost 2 weeks.
Leta married Lee Hillery in September 2003 and is survived by him, her 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 sisters along with countless nieces and nephews.
Leta lived her life on the promise of Philippians 4:19, which says: “My God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.
