Robert Joseph Cullen

Bob was born in Janesville, Minnesota on April 18, 1936. He lived there until he was three. His family, mother- Rosalind Sexton Cullen and John Patrick Cullen and older brother, John moved to Franconia, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C.
Bob attended St. Aloysius School and Gonzaga High in Washington, D.C. He graduated in 1958 with a business degree from Mt. Saint Mary's College, now a University in Emmitsburg, MD. He and five others were commissioned into the US Marine Corps by President Eisenhower. The following day Robert Kennedy gave a commencement speech.
Bob graduated Air Radar Control School in Florida. He was assigned to El Toro, California, then to Yuma, Arizona where he completed his military duty. After four years of service he left at the rank of Captain. Bob always had a great love of flying and soloed in a small, two-seater while in the Marines. He went into sales in Long Beach and then at the local airports teaching a parade of enthusiastic new pilots. He met interesting people from all over the world.
He married Teresa M. Hughes on October 4, 1958. They had four children, Robert Joseph, Jr., Patrick, Michael, Cathleen; granddaughter Claire; Brothers Bob & Paul (Sandra); Sisters Ellen (John) Burgess & Carol (George) Hermann; nieces Marie, Margaret, Erin and Katy, Susan and Karen; nephews Richard, Steven, Michael, William, John, David and Daniel.
He passed away peacefully on October 30, 2017 at 1:45 pm
