Alice Carlson Vukasovic, 90 years, of Wildomar, CA passed away on November 23, 2020, in Menifee, CA. She was born to the late Carl & Fannie Carlson, March 29, 1930, in Hemet, CA.  She graduated from Lake Elsinore High School in 1948.  She married Emil L. Vukasovic in 1951 who preceded her in death.  She is survived by three children: Emil D. Vukasovic, Julie (Pat)Manzo and Terry (Nick)Tyler, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Glen (Herk) Carlson, sister Jessie (Viola) Carlson and sister Jennella (Steve)Battles. Her brother Robert (Bob) Carlson preceded her in death just this year. 

In 1948, Alice Carlson was chosen to represent Elsinore Valley as Miss Elsinore at the Riverside County Fair.  Alice married Emil L. Vukasovic and the couple resided at Huntington Park where she worked at U.S. Steel Products until 1955.  Alice was a member of the Huntington Park Junior Women’s Club for over ten years held every office and chairmanship in that club.  She was installed as president of the Los Cerritos District CFWC, Jr. Membership  in 1965.  As president, Alice implemented projects that included assisting the wounded and hospitalized veterans.  She also fulfilled an international project that built a schoolhouse in a rural village in Mexico; providing living quarters for the teacher, books, and educational supplies for the children.  Her leadership also enabled participation in the fight against birth defects in cooperation with the March of Dimes.   Alice was a dedicated working mother who raised her family in Downey, CA.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, and spending summers at the beach with her children.  She was an enthusiastic Dodgers and Lakers fan and loved to watch games with her grandchildren.

Alice was employed by the Safeway Credit Union in 1968 where she worked for 28 years.  Always a dedicated employee, Alice applied her leadership skills, and worked her way within the Safeway organization.  She worked in Personnel, supervised the clerical staff, and Loan Department.  She loved her job and all the employees and members of the Safeway Credit Union; many considered her the “First Lady” of the credit union where she retired as Vice President.  Alice and her husband Emil retired to Wildomar, CA and she lived there for 24 years.  They enjoyed traveling and loved celebrating their anniversary’s at Laughlin, NV.  A Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date.
