Alvin Castro

Alvin Castro passed away peacefully in his home on March 4th, 2023 while surrounded by his loved ones. Alvin was serenaded with hymnal songs as he took his last breath and his first steps into everlasting life.

Alvin was the son of Zafarino and Concepcion Castro and was born on March 29th,1938 in La Mar, Colorado. Alvin’s humble beginnings instilled a strong work ethic that he lived by throughout his entire life. He was very patriotic and proudly served his country. He enlisted in the US Army after graduating high school at the age of eighteen. He loved the American flag and proudly displayed it on Independence Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. His wishes were to be laid to rest amongst the heroes that fought for our country.

Alvin married Anna Gomez on November 4th, 1964 and started a family of 5 boys and 2 girls.

Alvin found his passion for driving starting out as a yellow cab driver in downtown, Los Angeles in 1964. He then began his life-long truck driving career in 1968. Alvin completed numerous certifications in trucking and received multiple awards of excellence throughout his career. Alvin loved his family, but the light of his life were his grandchildren. When he would see their smiles, it made him very proud to be grandfather. They will miss their grandpa, but will forever hold his good memory in their hearts.

Alvin Castro is survived by his spouse of 58 years, his 7 children, and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, his infant son Alvin Castro Jr, and infant grandson Cruz Robert Castro.

Alvin Castro will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery on March 31st, 2023. Funeral services are closed to immediate family only.
