Asenath Elizabeth Miller

Asenathe Elizabeth Reaux Miller was born in Richmond, Virginia on December 15, 1940 to the late Roosevelt and Lucille Reaux. She departed this life May 17, 2020.

She was educated at Maggie L. Walker High School in Richmond, VA, and later continued her education at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, CA.  After many successful years in the Retail business, she was employed by the U.S. Government as a Contract Specialist, and retired after 20 years of dedicated service. 

Asenathe (affectionately known as Senny) was a kind, loving, big-hearted, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend. 

Senny was dedicated to her family as evidenced by the resilience, love and guidance she provided the kids as they moved from state to state, during Alvin Sr’s Active Duty service years. She readily accepted the countless challenges presented to all military spouses, and provided the strong yet nurturing care the kids, and Alvin Sr. needed. Her devotion, and support for the family grew as the family grew, and as each of them sought to achieve their goals. Many years later this same support was shared with the grand and great grand kids. 

Her quiet demeanor was a combination of her thoughtfulness and lead by example mentality. This was also probably the result of having so many brothers and a husband not shy for words. 

She had a passion for sports; especially bowling, and cheering on her two favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, and Los Angeles Lakers. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Sr., son, Alvin Jr., brothers; Roosevelt Reaux Jr., and Gregory Reaux, sister, Yvonne Wyche, and sisters-in-law; Rita and Joyce Reaux. 

She leaves to mourn her loss two sons: André Miller of San Marcos, CA, Anthony Miller Sr. of Murrieta, CA, daughter Anita Tanner (Donta Sr.) of Waipahu, HI, step-daughter,  Sheila Clarke (James) of Virginia Beach, VA; 11 grandchildren: Christina Brownlow (Tim), Anthony Miller, Jr. (Jennifer), Brittaney Crafton, Marcella Miller, Julia Miller, Donta Tanner Jr., T’Ebonie Tanner, Shayna Crafton, Steven Miller, Mariah Tanner and Rashod Tanner; six great-grandchildren: Madera, Skye and Ashton Brownlow, Ethan and Mia Miller, and Jamir Tanner; brothers: Clifton Reaux Sr., Thomas Reaux, Fred Reaux (Jeanne), Ernie Reaux (Patricia), and Joel Reaux (Jojo); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives,  and friends.

She will be deeply missed.
