Tribute

Benigno "Nino" Renteria, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 16, 2024, at the age of 84, in Menifee, California. Born on August 16, 1939, in Guadalajara, Mexico to Andres and Rosa, Nino was a man whose loving, generous, and handy nature touched the lives of all who knew him.

Nino's journey led him from the vibrant streets of Guadalajara, Mexico to the warm community of Canyon Lake, California, where he established his home and heart. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Maria Theresa Renteria, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and unwavering love. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their daughter, Veronica Renteria-Dykstra, and her children, Mikayla Bocanegra with her husband Robert and their children Hudson and Ryker, Brandon Bocanegra, Austin Bocanegra and Espn Dykstra; their daughter, Cristina DeSantiago, her husband Arturo, and their children Ivan and Lily; and their son, Andres Renteria, his wife Andrea, and their children Kaiden and Jade. Nino's legacy is reflected in the close-knit family he nurtured, one that will carry on his spirit of love and togetherness.

Professionally, Nino dedicated over two decades of his life as a skilled mechanic, a trade where his hands brought life to machines and comfort to those who relied on them. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community, working security for Pechanga Casino, where his warmth and friendly demeanor became a familiar presence.

Nino's interests painted the picture of a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was often found spending quality time with his family, whether it was a trip to Venice Beach or a leisurely day in Solvang, basking in the company of his loved ones. A true competitor at heart, Nino was a master of dominos, a game that sparked laughter and friendly rivalry at the family table. His culinary adventures were legendary within his household, as he had a remarkable talent for concocting delightful new meals with whatever ingredients the refrigerator had to offer.

Those who knew Nino will remember a man whose heart was as open as his door, always ready to welcome friends and family with open arms. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always the first to lend a helping hand. Nino's ingenuity was evident not only in his professional life but also in the countless ways he improved the lives of those around him through his knack for fixing just about anything.

The absence of Nino's warm smile and jovial laughter will be profoundly felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him. As we bid farewell to a man of such exceptional character, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy of love, kindness, and resourcefulness will continue to inspire and guide us.

Nino's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of family bonds. His story, from the streets of Guadalajara to the heart of his family in Menifee, is a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of joy, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.

As we honor the memory of Benigno "Nino" Renteria, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with moments of pure joy, shared wisdom, and an abundance of love. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those he touched, forever a beacon of the love and generosity that defined his remarkable life.
