Bette Lou Rowe Lowery died on Sunday, November 15, 2020 in California.  Bette was born in Trenton, New Jersey to James and Florence Rowe.  She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joseph Rowe, Jim Rowe, and Joan Scheese (Rowe).  Bette is survived by her daughter Lisa, grandchildren Kate and Daniel Pynn, great-granddaughter Dallas Dewey, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bette was intellectually gifted and skipped two grades in school.  She attended college at Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia and was a proud member of Pi Beta Phi.  She graduated with a degree in Chemistry & Physics.  She later earned a Master’s Degree in Education.  She worked as a Chemist, in a think tank at the Pentagon and for American Airlines, but found her joy in teaching.  Bette taught Elementary School in New Egypt, New Jersey and in Santa Ana, California for over 30 years before retiring in 1993.

Bette was married to Lee Lowery and had one child, Lisa Lowery (Tangler), and two beloved grandchildren Kate & Danny Pynn and one great-grandchild Dallas Dewey.  She was very involved in all of their lives.

Bette was a faithful member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church and served as a Catechist there for many years.

Bette loved to travel and enjoyed entertaining friends and family in her home.  She was known for her wonderful St. Patrick’s Day parties.  She was a true sports fan and enjoyed watching most sports, especially baseball.  As a young girl, she played field hockey and was an accomplished ice-skater.  She also loved to snow ski.  Bette loved to read and did extensive genealogy research.

Services will be held in June of 2021 in Trenton, New Jersey at Greenwood Cemetery.
