Blanca Gloria Corona

Blanca Gloria Acuna Corona was born in Sonora, Mexico on May 11, 1947 and passed away in Chula Vista, California on October 19, 2017.  She is survived by her son Frank Corona; daughter-in-law Courtney Corona; daughter Maritza Gomez; 6 grandchildren Diane McLaurin, Daniel Gomez, Marco Gomez, Tristan Corona, Erin, & Audrey Freer; 5 great-grandchildren Cesar Peralta, Bryanna Peralta, Yarell McLaurin, Ezra Gomez, & Daniel Gomez; Sisters Mirna Elisa Acuna, Rosalba Acuna, Laura Elva,

Luz Elena Acuna, & Lupita Acuna; Brothers Ramon, Francisco, Martin, Julio, & Miguel Acuna.  She was preceded in death by her husband John H. Corona and her siblings Lauro Acuna & Ana Delia Martinez.

Blanca worked professionally doing Child Care at Barton Elementary in Long Beach, CA and Elder care for many years.  Her hobbies included ceramics and traveling.  Over the years she was able to see most of the United States and Mexico.  Blanca was a very religious woman.  She enjoyed staying involved at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Long Beach wherein she was part of the choir, helped in the kitchen, participated in Bible studies, and volunteered at the school.  Blanca was a people-person.  She loved opening her home to family and friends.  Through this she entertained and gave advice to many people throughout the years.  She was extremely respected in her community.  Family and friends alike will miss her take-charge attitude and fiercely independent spirit. One of her proudest moments was becoming a U.S. citizen is the year 2000.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday 10/25/2017 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Bellflower, California at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In Lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in honor of her memory to Holy Innocents Parish School located at 2500 Pacific Ave. Long Beach, CA 90806.
