Cal (Sr.) Paysinger

April 3, 1921 ~ January 1, 2021 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Tribute

Cal Bennett Paysinger Sr., known for many years as “Honey” by his wife, Luerene.  To his siblings and cousins, he was “Brother”; to his six children he was “Dad”; to his daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren he was “Big Dad” and to his nieces and nephews he was “Uncle”.

Born April 3rd, 1921 to Tom and Roberta (Means) Paysinger in Plain Dealings, Louisiana.  Cal Sr. would help his parents and other relatives on the family farms until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 as part of the 4080 Quartermaster Corp.

After the war in 1946, Cal Sr. returned to Plain Dealings for a brief moment before leaving for Southern California.  Once in California he joined the Cement Mason Union in 1946 and remained a member in good standing until his passing.

In the late 1940s, Cal Sr. would meet his bride, Luerene Robinson Clark in San Pedro, California and they would later raise their six children (Bunice M. Harvey (Millard), William T. Clark (Wendeline), Terry Anderson-Paysinger(Debra), Arenda C. Paysinger, Cal B. Paysinger Jr. (Annette), Earl N. Paysinger(Miguel) in Harbor City, California for over forty years until moving to Sun City, California in the late 80s.

Cal Sr. gave his heart to the Lord at an early age and continued his walk with God by his side as a member of Revival Center Triedstone Church of God In Christ in Los Angeles, California where he served as a Church usher.

In the mid 1990s Cal Sr. joined Heritage Christian Church in Sun City, California and enjoyed hosting Tuesday and Thursday mid-day bible study with members of his church until moving to Indianapolis, Indiana in August of 2019 with his son, Cal Jr. and family.

Being an autodidact, Cal Sr. held a master degree in life, crafting his mastery in masonry and carpentry.  He loved sharing his profound knowledge of history and politics with his family and friends.  His ardent love and knowledge of the bible set him among the most notable of bible scholars.

He often said:  “if he could see it, he could do it.”  He loved cooking, fishing and the most joyous of things, taking care of his family.

His was a truly a life well lived and he will be lovingly missed by those who remain to celebrate his long and wonderful life.  Daughter Bunice M. Harvey, son William T. Clark (Wndeline), son Cal B. Paysinger Jr. (Annette), daughters-in-law Debra Anderson (Terry) and Miguel Paysinger (Earl); sister Mercy B. Bands, grandchildren:  Leberta, Marlys, Sharolyn, William Jr., Marvin, Cyndrya, Terry, Kerry, Stacy, Rider, Terrell, Terrika, Tierra, Bennett, Brent, Jordan, Jacqualyn, Steven, Brian, forty-eight great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren, numerous other family members and a host of friends.
