Charles David Herring

Charles David Herring “David” was born in Muncie, Indiana on March 18, 1943 and passed away in Murrieta, California on July 17, 2019.  He is survived by his wife of 41 years Delayne Herring; 3 children Christopher Daniel Herring, Margaret Kay Rolfe, & Charles “David” Herring, Jr.; 7 grandchildren Cristian, Alesandra, Nicolas, Dustin, Ryan, Elizabeth, & Justine; 3 sisters Barbara, Becky, & Beth; and many nieces & Nephews. 

David proudly served his country in the US Army for over 7 years.  While in the Army, David served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps as a legal officer from 1965 to 1972.  David served as a Military Judge from 1970 to 1972, and was honorably discharged as a Captain, JAGC, U.S. Army in 1972.  He then went on to earn his law degree and practiced law for over 50 years in the San Diego area.  He established “Herring & Herring APC” wherein he proudly worked with his daughter.

Primarily, David was a family man.  He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed boating, Padre Baseball, reading, traveling, and dining out.  David was an avid reader.  Over the years, he accumulated thousands of books on his two favorite subjects, military and baseball.  Recently, he enjoyed spending time with his wife visiting local wineries.

David was a very social person that enjoyed conversation.  All will miss his friendly spirit.  Military honors will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  A memorial service and celebration of life will be held immediately after the internment services at Miramar National Cemetery (estimated start time 12:30) at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church 959 C Avenue, Coronado, CA  92118.  All are welcome.
