Curtis R. Kuehnel was born December 27, 1937 to Ralph and Helen Kuehnel in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He learned how to drive taking a tractor to school every day at the age of 12.
During the summers growing up he worked on an 800 acre farm in Wisconsin.
After living in California during World War II his family relocated to Denver Colorado where he attended Cathedral High School on a football scholarship playing the position of running back.
After graduation he worked in a gas station saving money he earned to purchase his first car.
Curt joined the United States Marine Corps in October 1957 serving four years active duty and 2 years reserve.
Upon leaving the military he became manager of the Copper Penney Restaurants in Santa Ana and Buena Park, California.
In 1963 he started his own landscaping company and continued in this business until 1996 when he retired due to health reasons.
He moved to Temecula in 1998 and joined Saint Catherine of Alexandria Church where he became an Usher at the 5:00 p.m. service.
Curt Joined the Knights of Columbus
Council 9964 in 2020 and became the Grand Knight after going through the ranks.
Curt loved working outside in the vineyard, watching college football on weekends and in the past flying with friends.
Curt was a patriotic man loving his country, loving his Lord and Savior, his family and each of his fellow Brother Knights.
Curt passed away peacefully and unexpectedly the afternoon of June 23, 2020.
Curt knew no strangers!
