David Hans Nelson

September 1, 1964 ~ October 22, 2020 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Tribute

On Thursday, October 22, 2020, David H. Nelson, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at age 56 due to complications from ALS.

David was born on September 1, 1964 in Tucson, Arizona to Roger Nelson and Rita Roberts.  On June 18, 1989 he married Patricia Himes.  They raised three daughters, Elizabeth, Jessika and Chelsea and one son David. After 29 years working at Albertson’s in the Teamsters local 952, he retired and enjoyed 3 years of unencumbered travel, love and laughter with Patti.  They visited over 18 states, 10 countries, many river trips, concerts and lots of family time.  He hiked the high sierras, went snorkeling in the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, swam with sharks and sting rays and created memories to last a lifetime with friends and family. He was a big Angels and Chargers fan and loved to watch them play.  He enjoyed taking Patti and the kids to Angels games and collected many of the game day memorabilia.

David loved the river. Emerald Cove was their second home and he made so many friends and memories there.  He was the captain of the boat, his or yours, and always went with the flow. He loved to travel, sing karaoke and coach soccer.  David was known as “the guy”.  If you needed something, he probably had it, if you broke something, he could fix it.  David had a dry humor, quick wit and compassionate spirit.

David was preceded in death by his mother Rita and stepfather Joe. He is survived by his wife, Patti, his four children, Elizabeth, Jessika, Chelsea and David, grandson Wyatt, granddaughter Layla, his father Roger, stepmother Beata, his three sisters Karen, Debbie and Julie, brother Travis, and several nieces, nephews and in-law extended family.
