Tribute

Ellen Dorothea Hall, born on May 22, 1946, in Germany, passed away peacefully at her home in Menifee, California, on October 22, 2023.

Ellen's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and friendliness. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 56 years, Don Hall, a loving mother to her two children, Patrick C. Hall and Jennifer (Magdi) Al Zaeem, and a cherished grandmother to her two grandchildren, Yussef and Suriana. She was also a dear sister to Brigitte Phillips and a beloved aunt to her nephew, Andy Phillips, and her two nieces, Veronica Webb and Christina Phillips. She was preceded in death by her sister, Uta Childs. Ellen also leaves behind three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews on her husband’s side, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Ellen's journey to America began when she met Don in Germany, where he was stationed with the military. They fell in love when Ellen was just 18 years old, and at 21, they married and relocated to the United States. They settled in Gladbrook, Iowa, where they raised their children and built a life together. Ellen was a familiar and friendly face at Casey's, where she worked as a cashier for several years. She was adored by the customers, who appreciated her warm and welcoming demeanor.

Ellen was a woman of many interests. She loved to read, and in her younger years, she was an avid bowler. She served as the Secretary for her Bowling League at Gladbrook Bowl for many years, a position she held with great pride and dedication. Ellen had an affinity for elephants, a passion that brought her much joy and fascination.

Above all, Ellen was known for her kindness and her devotion to her family. She was accepting of all she encountered, and she always put her family first. Her caring and loving nature made her a beacon of light to all who knew her. She was loved by all she met, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Ellen Dorothea Hall will be remembered for her loving nature, her kindness, and her friendliness. Her life was a beautiful example of these virtues, and those who were fortunate enough to know her will continue to be inspired by her example. May her soul rest in peace.
