A passionate family woman, Gene left an indelible mark on everyone who crossed her path.

Gene is survived by her daughter, Kelly McClanahan, granddaughters Kelsi and Kaeli Danciart, and great-grandchild Michael Reed. Her brother, Scott Wheeler, and nieces & nephews Patty Yokan, Sheri Courvosier, Amanda Cabral, Michael McClanahan, and William Wheeler, also mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael "Jim" McClanahan, and her dear brother, Dennis Cary.

Gene McClanahan's professional life was devoted to retail, where she served for nearly four decades. Her passion and dedication to her work were evident and she was a well-respected figure in her field. Her commitment to her job was matched only by her love for her family and her faith.

A pillar of strength, Gene was a doting grandmother and mother, who cherished family time. She had a special bond with her granddaughter Kaeli, whom she cared for with deep affection. Her grandkids were her pride and joy, and she loved assisting them with their school projects. Her family will fondly remember her as a woman who was always ready to offer her love and support.

An avid tennis player, Gene enjoyed going on long walks with her dogs. Her love for travel was only rivaled by her love for reading, often staying up late into the night engrossed in a good book, a true night-owl. She was also a devout Catholic, her faith playing a significant role in her life.

Gene's zest for life extended to her community involvement as well. She volunteered her time and energy to coach in the Special Olympics, demonstrating her compassionate and giving nature. Her spirit of service, combined with her strong will and determination, was a source of inspiration for many.
