Jerry was born on January 22, 1947 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Camille and Lucille Barrette. The eldest of four, followed by his brother Arthur, Richard, and his sister Jacquelyn. When Jerry was 17 years old he decided to serve his country by enlisting in the military branch of the Army. When he told his father of his decision, he was told that he had to change his decision and enlist in the Navy instead, since his father had served in the Navy. He served two years active duty, and four years in the reserves. His active duty was spent in Vietnam. In 1967 he was honorably discharged and returned to Rhode Island. Over the years Jerry became a member of many organizations that included the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Life Member), American Legion (12 years), the Elks (32 years), and The Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Jerry and his wife, Prescilla met in 1968 when Prescilla visited her sister who lived in Rhode Island. They got married in 1970 in Long Beach, California. Jerry and Prescilla were blessed with their daughter Kimberly who was born July 1973 in Rhode Island. In 1978 they eventually moved back to California. Kimberly married and birthed three beautiful children, Aubrey, Christian, and Kaitlyn. Jerry loved them immensely and enjoyed every minute he spent with them.
We all miss him dearly, now and forever.
