Hans Kristian Hammer was born November 3, 1936 in Trondheim, Norway to Sverre and Alvhild Hammer. At the age of 13 he came through Ellis Island with his family, then settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he turned 17 he joined the United States Marine Corp, and proudly served with them for 23 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. After retiring, he worked for Hiriam Walker Distilled Spirits.
He was an active member of the Oceanside Elks Club for over 50 years. He was also a past commandant of the Marine Corps League and worked with the Wounded Warriors Program.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Ann Hammer, his daughter, Anne Marie Hammer (Richard), son Michael Hammer (Dawn), son Mark Hammer (Linda), daughter, Tina Sargent (James).
Grandkids, Michael Hammer Jr., Hans Ismirnioglou, Jessica Hammer (Anthony Sargent), Adam Gravelle, Hunter Hammer, Lucas Gravelle, Hailey Hammer, Kalin Deluna, Ryan Deluna, Great grandson Kaleb Ziemba and Sister Anne Guymon.
