Life Reflection

A burst of light and an explosion of personality was gifted to us on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 and we named him Jalen Duane Rogers.  He was born in Murrieta, California as a special bundle of fireworks.  Jalen was a free-spirited young man; he loved playing outdoors and did not mind the age of his playmates; he would play with anyone!  Jalen loved sports, swimming, traveling, dinning out and cooking as well as his time spent with family his family and friends.  He had a competitive spirit and enjoyed all challenges. He often would be found helping his teachers and classmates. He made sure everyone around him felt special.

Jalen was baptized on October 28, 2010 at Greater New Hope Christian Church, Perris, California by Pastor Greg Moore; Jalen loved the Lord and was active in church ministry.  He served as a Jr. Usher, Choir Member and Musician. He watched his Godfather from a young age and taught himself to play the piano and occasionally he would play the drums and guitar.

From the age of four, Jalen knew that he wanted to work in Funeral Service.  For two years he was a dedicated employee at Evans-Brown Mortuary.  His professional poise and wisdom took everyone by surprise including the families that he was able to assist at viewing and funeral services.  There was nothing that Jalen would not do for the wellbeing and benefit of the families in need.  He greeted his co-workers with a hug and a smile and before he left, he would tell them he loved them.  Jalen added his “special touch” to the workplace.  He was a tremendous asset.

Jalen knew that he would live a life of service to other as written in Romans 12.  He aspired to join the military and further his career in funeral service after graduating from high school.  He matured from a boy to a man overnight.  He found his footing and spread his wings to navigate the transition into young manhood.  He often would say “I got this”.  The light that he depicted will never be dimed. He was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.

On Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Murrieta, California, Jalen went home to be with His Lord and Savior. Although we feel it was too soon; God saw different, and He makes no mistakes.   Jalen’s influence on others was long lasting; he met people right where they were and did not make them feel “less than”.  Everyone was special and deserved the love that God placed in his heart.   He will forever be missed, loved, and cherished by his family and friends. He had a heart of pure gold and a smile with a shine to match. The love for Jalen is deeply held by his parents, Joseph and Cherise Rogers, Kevin and Danette Moore; siblings, Davion Handy, Jonaiya Pennington, Jalen Sean Carter, Nya Moore, Jordan Rogers and Bryce Moore; great-grandmother, Jeannette Gordon; grandparents; Rita Rogers, Duane and Sheila Hale, Greg and Cathy Moore and Gloria Lowe; niece, Saida Pennington; Godparents, Morrese and Theresa Siler and Maurice Sanders and Tia Lateef;  lifetime pet dog, Mater and pet dog, Kali; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members and friends.

Jalen’s Life Scripture

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

If You Could See Me Now

If you could see me now, you wouldn’t shed a tear.

Though you don’t understand why I’m no longer there.

Remember my spirit, my smile, and my heart… that’s the real me.

I’m still very much alive, OH, if you could only see!

I’ve beheld our Father’s face; I’ve touched my Saviors hand.

The angels all rejoiced as I entered the Promise Land.

Beyond the gates of pearl, I walk on golden streets.

I’ve touched the walls of jasper, dipped my foot in the crystal sea.

The beauty is beyond words, nothing can compare,

I’ve even seen your mansion; someday I will meet you there.

Allow Jesus to be your guide, His word will show you the way.

So, please, don’t cry! We will meet again someday!
