James A. Long

November 19, 1935 ~ July 15, 2020 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

James Allen Long was born on November 19th, 1935 in Santa Ana, California and passed away peacefully at his home in Menifee, California July 15, 2020.  He left a loving wife Mary;  Son Byron Long, Son Jeff Long and Daughter Jacq Tarrolley.  He also left 5 grandchildren, 1 grandchild and a Sister Sylvia Drake.

Fresh out of high school he drove a van and storage truck with his father.  Later Jim served proudly in the U.S. Army for over 20 years including one tour of duty in Vietnam.  Many of his friends throughout life were made through connections involved with serving his Country.  After he finished in the service he followed his lifelong passion and proceeded to open a snowmobile and motorcycle business high in the Rocky Mountain town of Woodland Park, Colorado.  Long’s Motorsport was his pride and joy.  He was probably the most happy running the store, repairing the customer’s bikes and having a morning cup of coffee with the regulars.  Later life brought him back to Southern California, where he had grown up, as all of his children were in the area.  Together with Mary they lived in several places including Carlsbad, Fallbrook and Menifee.

Jim always had the gift of gab and was never shy to spark up a conversation with anyone…even a stranger.  Soon he would off on some story with details that could amaze you and at the same time having you scratching your head.  He was a wiz with small engines and loved to race motocross and enduros well into his later years.  His wit and charm will be severely missed.  Rest in peace young man...
