James Allen Beggs

James Allen Beggs was born on December 2, 1929 at home in Culver City, CA to Robert Earnest Beggs and Gertrude (Finlay) Beggs; he was one of eleven children.  He attended Venice High School and enjoyed playing many sports, being especially gifted in baseball.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1948; he was a Staff Sergeant stationed in Fort Worth, TX where he met the love of his life, Lotus, marrying her on September 1, 1951, afterwards transferring to March Air Force Base.  Lotus and Jim raised four children, Mary, Lin, James Jr., and JoAnn in Torrance, CA.   He was employed at Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA for 30+ years where he worked in the field of engineering and satellite communication.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and playing numerous sports, especially golf.  He retired at 62 years of age.  He spent his retirement traveling with his wife where they fished, cruised the seas, and explored the United States in their big RV.  For the last 20 years Jim and Lotus lived in Menifee, CA where, as a devoted husband, he drove Lotus to St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church on Sundays.  His lineage includes 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  James was a devoted husband and father, always kind and helpful to others, lovingly loyal, a hardworking gentleman, and was humble.  Jim’s friends have said that Jim had a positive outlook and never said an unkind word about others.  He will forever be loved and missed by everyone.
