Tribute

Jess James Kinney, known affectionately to all as Jess, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024, in Perris, California, at the age of 74. Born on December 21, 1949, in Carroll, Iowa, Jess's early years were filled with the warmth and strong values of a close-knit community, which he carried with him throughout his life.

Jess's journey took him from the heartland of Iowa to the sunny climes of Perris, California, where he would go on to leave an indelible mark. Together with his loving wife, Jane, Jess co-founded and operated J & J Label, a cornerstone of the local business community, for an impressive 40 years. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work were matched only by his commitment to his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, who was not only his business partner but his life companion, sharing in every adventure and challenge. His legacy continues through his son, Jess III, and his granddaughter, Hannah Osterloh, who will carry forward his memory with love and pride. Jess also leaves behind his sisters, Barbara Short and Sandra Tuman, who will miss his presence deeply. Jess was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jess and Marion Kinney, his cherished daughter Natalie Fischer, and his sister Karen Mialkovsky.

Jess's life was one of engagement and enjoyment. His passion for fishing led him to many peaceful mornings and exciting afternoons by the water's edge, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His love for playing Keno was only surpassed by the thrill he found in day trading, a hobby he pursued with great enthusiasm after his retirement. The joy he found in these pursuits was infectious, and he had a unique ability to turn a simple pastime into a heartwarming social event.

Those who knew Jess will remember him for his kindness, his friendly demeanor, and his thoughtful nature. He was the kind of person who would go out of his way to help a friend or a stranger, and his gentle spirit was a beacon of light for those around him. Jess's warm smile and generous heart will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Jess, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the happiness of shared experiences. His was a life that touched many, and the memories he created will continue to inspire and comfort us. While we mourn his passing, we also take solace in knowing that Jess's story is one of fulfillment and enduring impact.

A private ceremony will be held to honor Jess's life, where family and friends will gather to share stories, reflect on the moments that made him special, and say their final goodbyes to a man who was truly one of a kind. Jess James Kinney's presence will be forever etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind, and his spirit will continue to guide us in the days to come.
