John McCaffery

John ‘Mac’ Hanson McCaffery of Sun City, CA passed peacefully Friday morning, July 31, 2020, age 89.  He was the son of Frank and Lilian (Cox) McCaffery; beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Bryant) McCaffery; father to Charles and Richard (Debra) McCaffery; grandfather to Danielle and Bryan (Ashley) McCaffery; great-grandfather to Holly, Wesley and Lacey.

Mac served 26 years in the U.S. Navy, as a Radioman on various naval ships including: the USS Oklahoma City CLG-5 during Vietnam; and the USS Glacier (Icebreaker) making two trips to Antarctica supporting Operation Deep Freeze and other ships in support of NASA’s Mercury recovery program. Mac was also an avid Skeet and Trap shooter and member of the National Skeet Shooting Association.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, 17 August at 11am. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans: https://secure.dav.org/
