We mournfully announce the passing of Joseph “Joey” Michael Torrez, 43, of Corona. Joey passed away on February 5, 2021, after a hard fought battle with depression.
Joey, the only son born to Manuel and Rose Torrez, took his first breath of life on February 7, 1977, while the family resided in Costa Mesa, CA. As a child, Joey had a knack for building things in the dirt for his toy cars and making forts, while using scrap objects, including nails/screws and his dad’s tools.
The family later moved to Corona where Joey graduated from Corona High School in 1996. Throughout high school, Joey was actively involved in sports such as cross county and track, as well as student leadership. Those who knew him often remarked about Joey’s uncanny ability to make others laugh with his quick wit and funny stories.
After graduation, he attended Riverside Community College. Shortly after, he began a career in the banking and financial arena working at World Savings Bank and The Capital Group.
While never married, he lived a vibrant life after giving his life to God and becoming a born-again Christian. Joey was a spiritual person and trained in yoga to later become an instructor. His most treasured loves of his life were his dogs, “Noah”, an Italian Greyhound who left this world ahead of him and his 2 rescued Greyhounds “Asher” and “Cyclone”.
Joey is survived by his mother, Rose Torrez of Corona; his father, Manuel Torrez of Menifee; sisters Isha Jacks of Goodyear, AZ, Mariann Cabrera of Menifee; brother-in-law Randy Jacks of Goodyear, AZ and nieces and nephews, Branden, Kendall, Charlotte and Jesus.
Rest In Peace Joey... a son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
“For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways.”
