Karen Lee Duma

May 13, 1955 ~ June 14, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Karen Lee Duma, age 62, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones at the Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, California on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

She was born on May 13, 1955 in Buffalo, New York to parents Walter and Charlotte (Gilman) Szuder. Shortly after, her family relocated to La Puente, California where Karen grew up alongside her sister, Sharon and brother, Ronald.

Karen lived her life with joy and enthusiasm. She was highly spirited with a passion for family, friends, animals, antiques, sports and reading.

As a patron and collector of arts and antiquities, she enjoyed exploring antique stores and yard sales for treasures from the past. She lovingly adorned her home with these unique discoveries, which demonstrated her eclectic style. It was a thrill for her to find that rare something of great value.

Karen enjoyed entertaining loved ones in her home. Having parties and potluck get togethers, so everyone could feel included. She was always centrally posted to the center of every important exchange of goodwill either one-on-one or with many around her.

One of Karen’s most undeniable gifts was her natural rapport with animals. They were drawn to her and she unconditionally loved all creatures, big and small, that crossed her path. She would nurse back to health the sick and injured or simply open up her home to creatures in need of love.

Karen had an eternal fondness for horses and associated much of her life with these majestic creatures. She spent 15+ years owning and caring for horses of her own and enjoyed horseback riding with her husband Roy.

A true sports enthusiast, Karen invested time as both a spectator of professional sports or actively engaged in an activity of her own personal love, such as bowling, softball, golfing or water skiing.

Karen Lee Duma is survived by her loving and thoughtful husband of 39 years, Roy; her three children, Jeremy (Whitney), Brian and Rhiannon (Nick); her grandchildren, Violet & Milo; and her sister Sharon.
