Larry Jerome McCovery was born May 12, 1951 in Evergreen, Alabama to Kattie Belle McCovery and Jerry Tim. He was the second oldest of six children.
In 1969 after completing high school, Larry left Alabama for California. Shortly thereafter, he met Pauline Shirley and they were married in 1972. To this union two children were born – Sherri Monique and Monica Shonee. Larry also had 2 children from other relationships – Rodney Jerome and Tojohn “TJ”.
Throughout his life, Larry worked in the steel industry as a heavy machine operator and foreman. He often joked that he “built Fontana” due to the many projects he worked on in this area. When not on a job site, he enjoyed working on cars and riding motorcycles. Known as “Boss Man”, he loved racing his Honda 750 as a proud member and at one point president of the LA Deuces Motorcycle Club. Larry was also a sports fan and liked watching the South Carolina Gamecocks Women’s Basketball and the Pittsburg Steelers.
On February 23, 2023, Larry departed this earth to his heavenly home. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and two siblings - Monica Dewalt and Zachary “Scotty” King.
Larry is survived by his wife Pauline McCovery, 4 children – Rodney McCovery (Ina), Sherri McCovery-Llewellyn (Alphanso), Monica MCovery, and Tojohn “TJ” Robinson Sr., siblings - Donald Wayne McCovery, Joseph Christopher King, and Samuel Rodet King, 22 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
