Marion Cozzi died peacefully on April 9, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.
Marion was born on September 28, 1931 in Waukesha, WI to her parents Vincenzo (Jimmy) and Rosina Ruccia. She married Vincenzo (Vince) Cozzi on February 23, 1952 in Modugno, Italy, after which they lived in Waukesha, WI where they operated several restaurants: Jimmy's Grotto, The Adriatic, and Vince's Villa.
Marion and Vince moved to Rancho Bernardo, CA in 1973 and Marion became employed by General Dynamics. Marion was a devout member of San Rafael Catholic Church in Rancho Bernardo for over 30 years. After her husband Vince passed, Marion moved to Murrieta, CA in 2004 and became a member of Saint Martha Catholic Church. Marion was a kind and loving person, was very outgoing, and made friends easily. Her terrific sense of humor and optimistic outlook drew others to her. If people were worried or troubled, Marion always had a kind word to ease their concerns. She became a well-loved greeter at Saint Martha where she welcomed people to Sunday services. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking for others. Her devotion to people and enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to many. She was actively involved in her community and enjoyed welcoming new neighbors and participating in social activities.
Marion is survived by her sons Nicholas (Ava) Cozzi, Jim Cozzi, and Mario (Debb) Cozzi; her grandchildren Alex (Alisa-Marie) Cozzi, Anthony (Lauren) Cozzi, and Austin Cozzi; her sister Donna (Gerald "Tucker") Martin, niece Lisa Muehls, nephew Michael (Stacey) Werning and many cousins and long-time friends.
A visitation for friends and family will be held at Evans-Brown Mortuary in Sun City on Thursday April 12 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be at Saint Martha Catholic Church in Murrieta on Friday April 13 at 10:00 AM. Private interment will take place at Dearborn Memorial Park.
