Michael “Mike” Cannavino (85) of Murrieta passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 7, 2020. He was born in Chicago, Il on Sept 6, 1935.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Steven. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty, sons David (Nineveh), Joseph (Joy), daughter Karen (Jeffrey) Harless, and daughter-in-law, Theresa.

Mike will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. Also, for his wonderful ability to develop and foster friendships. He was a special Grandpa/Papa to grandchildren: Nicole (Daniel) Spragg, Tiffany (Cameron) Cox, Kyle (Randi) Baker, Alec Baker, Kristen (Tyler) Dresbach, Sarah (Chase) Freeland, Cathryn Cannavino, Anthony Cannavino, Bella Cannavino, Marco Cannavino, Evan Cannavino, Nicolene Cannavino, six great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild.

He was committed to his Catholic faith and ushered at his parish churches throughout his life. He was a past president of the Canyon Lake Men’s Golf Club and past chairman the Tuesday Work Group.

Mike was a master machinist who installed printing presses and equipment throughout the US and Canada. After moving to California in 1981, he started his own machinery maintenance contracting company. He generously shared his knowledge and “hands on” expertise, not only with his family, but also neighbors and friends. He was a great mentor to many.

As a couple, Mike and Betty traveled both domestically and internationally throughout his life visiting family, friends, and many points-of-interest.

Not only will Mike’s memories live on in the hearts and minds of those he loved but also through the many wonderful treasures he made. He will truly be missed!

Due to the covid-19 virus, the funeral mass at St. Vincent Ferrer will be limited to family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Friends of the Canyon Lake Library, or your charity of choice.
