Miguel (Mike) S. Miguel, 85 years of Moreno Valley, California, passed away April 4, 2018 at Loma Linda Medical Center.  Mike was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 09, 1932 to Leocadio San Miguel and Guadalupe Sotomayor;  he was the third of nine children. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force (then Army Air Corp), he served in Korea and Vietnam; having distinguished himself with earning the Bronze Star with three oak clusters and the U.S. Air Force Military Merit Medal. In 1951 Mike met the love of his life Matiana (Mattie) De La Vega, at a church festival in San Antonio, where she was selling kisses for .25 cents to raise money for the church.  Mike bought $1.00 worth; it was love at first sight.  They fell in love and married on December 13, 1953.  They were blessed with five children, Yvonne, Vivienne, Thomas, Robert and Anneva.  During his military career, Mike and Mattie, and family traveled to Morocco, Spain, Germany and England.  In 1976, after serving 26 years, Mike retired from the Air Force; his last duty station March Air Force Base.  

Mike will be remembered for being loving and generous. He was very devoted to his family especially to his loving wife of 64 years Mattie. And he remained faithful to the Catholic Church.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his  son Robert John Miguel. He leaves behind to live and cherish in his memory, his love, Mattie; his daughters Yvonne (Lenny) Carella, Vivienne (Robert) Edwards, Anneva (David) White; a son Thomas (Carolyn) Miguel; eight grandchildren Joseph, Emily, Bobby, Bobby John, Kelsey, Joelie, Janice and Ian; two great-grandchildren Kira and Anneva; a host of nieces and nephews who all loved their Uncle Mike; and many, many friends.
