Nancy Rogers

Nanci Jane Rogers (nee Wilson) was born September 16, 1944 in Camden, New
Jersey, and passed away May 7, 2022 in Menifee, California. Beloved wife of
Wayne Rogers for 51 years. Mother of Matthew Rogers and Margarette Rogers.
Grandmother of 4 and great grandmother of 2. Also survived by her brother
Joseph P. Wilson (Jane) and daughters-in-law. Predeceased by her parents
Margaret and Joseph Wilson.
Nanci had a courageous and miraculous life. When she was only ten years of age,
she contracted meningitis from swimming in New Jersey. Subsequently, she was
in a coma for two weeks. She recovered and was able to walk, only to get the last
contaminating endemic of the polio virus in the hospital. She was put in an iron
lung for several months, and survived against all odds. She was able to learn to
wear metal and leather braces and other crutches to continue to walk (eventually,
she had to use a wheelchair).
She lost three years of schooling during her recovery, yet learned to read
abundantly. She went on to get a college degree, and became a speech therapist
for elementary, junior, high schools. She married Wayne at age 29, raised two
children and had many happy years with family by her side. Though she had
life-long physical challenges with post-polio syndrome, Nanci remained
courageous. She always saw the natural Light of the Lord ahead of her. She has
been the inspiration beneath Wayne’s wings.
Nanci’s memorial will be at the Evans Brown Mortuary, Sun City/Menifee, CA, May
18th at 5 pm with a viewing 4-5 pm, followed by a meal.
