Tribute

Nestor E. Arevalo was a loving son, brother, tio and friend. Anyone who met him was forever touched by his humble heart and big smile. He was giving, selfless, absolutely loved food (In-N-Out, ribs, sweets, his mom’s cooking), and was a big advocate for animals, especially dogs. He had a gentle and patient way with children who immediately loved him back. He was so talented and fixed anything from nothing. His passion for learning new trades included: electrician, auto body repair and painter, commercial and residential painter, chef, barber, farmer/gardener and entrepreneur - if he didn't know how to fix something he always learned how and mastered it. His infectious laugh and joyfulness brought so much happiness to all those around him; he always gave people the benefit of the doubt and saw the best in them, even when they couldn't see it in themselves. He had special relationships with everyone he knew.

He loved being active, and enjoyed snowboarding, skateboarding, running, lifting weights and hiking - especially with his niece, Ari. He also loved music - hip hop, Colombian music, reggaeton and reggae. Nestor enjoyed funny movies and loved to laugh.

The profound love, respect and admiration he had for his mama is incomparable. Together they shared dreams for the future, a passion and natural talent for gardening and a mutual love of food and sweets. He loved his father with equal respect and admiration, following in his footsteps by becoming an electrician - he also rooted for the LA Dodgers just like his pops.

As a brother, he always said “I will always have your back to the fullest.” He supported their dreams, was a shoulder to cry on and did everything he could to protect his sisters from the world. He loved their daughters like his own. His smile radiated so much love whenever he was with them or spoke of them. He never just said “I love you,” he would say “I love more than you’ll ever know.”

Nestor was an incredible man full of so much talent and promise. He literally gave people in need the clothes off his back and the shoes off his feet. He would feed others first, even in the face of hunger. He was a true humanitarian - while no one is perfect, his heart was pure perfection.

He LOVED his family and always kept them close to his heart.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of selflessness, humility, triumph, love, joy and hardwork. His family will keep his legacy and spirit alive by continuing to selflessly help others and leave joy wherever they go.

May you rest in eternal peace.

One of his favorite quotes was:

“And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years.” - Abraham Lincoln
