Darleen Twyman, 96, passed away peacefully in her home on Dec. 8, 2021 in San Diego, California.
Darleen was born on November 14, 1925 in Loma Linda, California to George and Leta Evans.
Darleen was raised in what is now Canyon Lake, California with her mother, father, and sisters, Alpha and Elinor. As a child, she was a tom boy, and would spend her days hanging out in her father’s pick-up truck or playing in the field to entertain herself. Later on in high school, she fell in love with being glamorous.
Darleen attended Perris Valley High School during World War II. After high school, she married John Kirkland and had two sons, David and Doug. She was a fulltime housewife, and she enjoyed every minute raising her two rambunctious boys in Riverside. Darleen and John separated, and Darleen fulfilled her life-long dream of moving out of the country and to the beach, where she met Noel Twyman, whom she would later marry and spend the rest of her life with. Darleen and Noel lived for each other, and when they weren’t traveling around the world, they called San Diego home.
While at home, Darleen loved spending time in the kitchen planning fancy dinner parties for her friends and family. She also found joy in playing golf and tennis with her husband Noel.
Darleen is preceded in death by her son Douglas Kirkland
She is survived by her son David Kirkland, stepchildren John and Betsy Twyman, grandchildren Kristine, Michael, Jill, Kevin, Paige, and Zoe, and 8 great grandchildren.
