Peter’s Story…

Peter Luis Cepeda Santos - April 16, 1964 – January 08, 2019

Born at GMH in Oka, Tamuning Guam on April 16, 1964 to Jose and Pilar Santos, he is the 4th child of 10 brothers and sisters.

Much of his early years were spent helping Pop at the Ranch taking care of the pigs and hanging out with his older brothers.

He met Lynn, the love of his life, in Guam in 1985 and they’ve been together, as he would say, for 33 years, 5 months, 24 days, 10 hours and 52 minutes. Peter and Lynn finally made it official and got married on October 20, 2012, in Craig Park in Brea, CA. Tom (Peter's oldest Brother) Officiated.

In 1988, Lynn returned to Hawaii with Peter in tow.  He worked, so Lynn was able to return to school.  After college, one of her first jobs was working the swing shift at the Travelodge Hotel in Waikiki.  Both night owls, they found themselves in the tiny bar next door, playing darts.  Peter made history soon after, when they joined the Honolulu Darting Association.

The only one, EVER, to do a “three-peat” Peter was the State of Hawaii Champion, 3 years in a row, and ranked Nationally representing the State of Hawaii at the American Darts Organization’s North American Open Dart Tournament (NAODT) in Las Vegas, NV.

Peter enjoyed and excelled in many sports, Baseball, Tennis, Basketball, Golf, Fishing, Pool, Ping Pong, and playing Frisbee were among his favorites.  Growing up, Peter played for the Toto Falcons Baseball Team and always made the All Star Team.  After Dad passed in 2011, he returned to Guam.  During his brief stay, Peter and his nephew Brian Jr. (then 12 yrs. old) won the Doubles Division 3.0 of Quality Cup Tennis Tournament and helped as a fill-in coach for his nephews’, Victor and Brian Jr’s baseball team, the MTM Falcons.

As his sisters, Therese and Joann would say, Peter was a man of many talents and master of none.  Today a roofer, tomorrow a plumber.  He loved to fix things broken or not.  And if it something was beyond repair, he’d save the parts to use them to invent something better.

Peter’s last job was working for “Pops” at Island Mortuary Services.  He enjoyed his job, and a gentleman to the end, greeted families and caretakers with heartfelt concern and treated their loved ones with respect.

Quick to defend, protect, and provide for those he cared about.  Peter always left a lasting impression.  His language of choice may have been a bit “colorful” and he was a man of few words (not); but he would say “it’s not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it” and to ALWAYS speak with sincerity, with love and with respect.

Peter will forever be remembered for his smile, contagious laugh and crazy antics.  Know that he is in heaven with our loved ones, the angels, guiding, protecting and defending us.

Prayer for guidance… “Saint Michael, the Archangel, with your light, enlighten us.  With your wings protect us.  With your sword defend us.”
