Randy Travis, 57, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. His journey began in Apple Valley CA, born to Martha and Frank Travis. He spent his childhood driving go carts and swimming with his older brother Greg and his sister Tamra. He met his wife at the age of 11 and married her at 21. They spent their younger years raising their two daughters, attending swim meets, volleyball tournaments, and camping. Randy worked for his parents as a backhoe operator until he and his wife Wendy began their own small business as owner/operators of heavy equipment and continued to grow the family business and legacy started by Martha and Frank. He loved his career as it incorporated his love for digging, building, and fixing things. Randy enjoyed taking yearly family vacations to Glamis Sand Dunes and Lake Havasu where he rode his three wheeler in the sand and water skied until his heart was content. He loved black coffee, classic rock music, dancing silly, telling stories with good friends, building things, watching Laker games, and doing yard work with his wife Wendy. Randy was extremely generous, loyal, and playful until his last days, never missing an opportunity to make a funny face. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand or an ear. He was an active member of Christ’s Church of the Valley. Randy’s most memorable quality will always be his giant bear hugs...they will be sorely missed.
Randy was preceded in death by his sister Tamra and his brothers Ricky & Greg. He is survived by his faithful wife, Wendy, his two daughters, Heather (Drew) & Melissa (Hector), his four grandchildren: Eliana, Roma, Lucia and Xavier, and his loving parents Frank and Martha.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, 9:00am at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 1404 W. Covina Blvd., San Dimas, CA 91773
