Menifee, Ca. – Richard “Rick” Maurice Tighe died peacefully at home on December 19, 2020 hours after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia surrounded by his beloved wife and daughters. Rick was born in Petaluma, Ca where he worked at his uncle’s dairy farm (Lanatti Ranch) and graduated from Petaluma High School (Class of 1971). It was here where he met his future wife of 47 years, Lesley Davis Tighe. In 1973 Rick and Lesley relocated to Southern California where they started their own electrical contracting business (Rick’s Electric, Inc.) which has been serving the area for more than 40 years. Though they discovered cruising later in life, they made up for it by spending many vacations sailing the high seas, enjoying the Drink of the Day, and trying their luck in the casino. Rick had a quiet confidence and humbleness that was only betrayed by his wry wit and joking manner. His generosity was evidenced by the way in which he chose to run the business and by all the people he assisted with their electrical issues. He is survived by his wife, Lesley Tighe, of Menifee and his daughters, Trisha Stergios and her husband, Scott, of San Diego and Tara Mendez and her husband, Dave, also of Menifee. Rick was blessed with two boisterous grandchildren, Ryan and Julian Mendez. He is preceded in death by his mother L. Beverly Garner Swanson and his father Marvin J. Swanson. He was a loving brother of Sheri Petersen and her late husband Tim of Petaluma, of David James Tighe his wife Sherry of Boulder, and Jon Swanson his wife Julie of Wildomar. He is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and business associates. The family welcomes donations made in Rick’s memory to Retrievers and Friends of Southern California (RFSC) (mention In Memory of Rick Tighe in the memo/comments/notes section, http://www.retrieversandfriends.com/donate-now.asp ) or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)( https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/in-memory-of-rick-tighe ).
