Tribute

Sally Anne Maynard, was born in Holtville, California on July 11, 1945. She was the youngest of two children born to Helen Johnson. She graduated from Holtville High School with the Class of ’64. She was a wonderful loving mother to all her children giving birth to 1st Krista & then Anthony. Sally’s heart was meant to love and raise many more children than just Krista & Anthony. Sally was blessed to raise her son Frank J Martinez & her daughter Vinicia Adler. But, honestly she took so much pleasure in raising so many more kids. Sally met the love of her life Larry Pope in September 1989, and together they shared 30 years of love and companionship. Sally worked for the Fontana Unified School District as a bus driver, she was loved by all her school kids whom she loved in return. She was dedicated to her school bus kids for 37 years.

In her free time, Sally enjoyed riding with Papa Larry everywhere on his Harley, going on cruises with her Janie-girl & having female bonding time with her tribe of “sisters” from her bus yard & Betty Copeland being the “Thelma to her Louise” Spending time with her family brought her the most joy. When asked what times she will remember most fondly and the things she enjoyed, she wrote in her journal: “Spending time with everyone together at Thanksgiving, watching Michael’s football game in Vegas was the greatest. Krista’s wedding to George was very important cause all the kids were together, those were great times! Sharing football with my son-in-law George either together or on the phone. George was sent to us by the Lord and has made my life worth living, the time with him was most precious, I LOVE YOU GEORGE, Take care of my baby girl! she loves you very much too”.

Sally will be remembered always for her unconditional love, warm spirit, her sense of humor and her dedication to her family and friends. She loved watching her old movies on TCM! Her love for Sam Elliot & Tom Selleck was also very well known! She always had her heart open to anyone & willing to help anyone in need. She will also be remembered dearly by all the kids she met throughout the years and the lives that she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ted Maynard and Helen Johnson. Sally leaves behind her love & life partner Papa Larry; her brother Pete (Lynda) Preece; Her daughter’s Krista (George) Foley, Vinicia (Larry) Adler; her sons Anthony (Mary) Martinez and Frank (Renee) Martinez; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other extended family and many friends.
