Sandra Marie Bennington (Gasper) passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 in Murrieta, California with her family by her side. Sandy was born November 30, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Alexander and Mary (Antonucci) Gasper. Sandy was the youngest of two siblings and is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Gasper. The family returned to Southern California in 1943. Sandy attended and graduated from Bellflower High School where she met and eventually married Jerry Bennington Sr. in 1962.
Sandy raised her family in Poway, California where she sold Avon to her local neighborhood and was an accomplished cake decorator for Baskin-Robbins. Sandy enjoyed crocheting, going to horse races, and socializing with family and friends. Sandy was passionate about Elvis, listening to his music and collecting his memorabilia. She loved to tell the story of the time Elvis handed her his scarf during one of his Las Vegas shows. Sandy loved listening to classic rock & roll and country music, especially Reba McEntire, often going to many of her concerts throughout her lifetime.
Sandy is survived by her children, Nicholas, Christina, and Jerry Jr., daughter-in-laws Rose (Bennington), Jennifer (Bennington), six grandchildren, Jameson, Jillian, Brian, Andrea, Julianna, Ainsley, and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kahlani.
There will be a funeral mass at St Raymond Catholic Church 12348 Paramount Blvd., Downey, California 90242 on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 10am. She will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
