Theodore Emil Kwast, passed away Thursday evening, June 27, 2019 at the age of 80 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side after a long illness.

 

Ted was born in Norfolk, VA on January 26, 1939 to Theodore Emil Kwast Sr. and Martha Woodard Gardner. The family later moved to a farm in Benton Harbor, MI. He met his wife Patsy Capps in high school and quickly after graduating; they married and had three children. They were married 45 years until her passing in March 2004. Ted found love again and married his second wife, Judy Sutterfield. They were together nearly 11 years until her passing in December 2015. His eldest son Doug (1959-2004) also predeceases Ted.

 

Ted had a passion for cars and racing, he spent many summers skimming the sands in his dune buggy with his family and friends. He loved the beach, golfing and motorcycles. Ted was an avid traveler. He visited nearly all 50 states and abroad. Including Russia, Germany, Great Britain and others. Camping was also a love, visiting many desert and mountain locales, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and unarguably his favorite destination, Yosemite.

 

Ted was a very hard-working man. He ran his own business from the early ‘70s until his retirement in 2006. He holds several patents and was in The Who’s Who in California recognizing his accomplishments.

 

Ted is survived by his brother, Terry Kwast of Corcoran, CA, his sister, Linda Wojciechowski of Menifee, CA, his daughter, Debra McCarthy of Menifee, CA, his son, James Kwast and wife Angel Saddler of Newport Beach, CA, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

 

Memorial services will be held at Evans Brown Mortuary in Menifee on Saturday July 6, 2019 with visitation at 3:00pm and service following at 4:00pm. A celebration of Life will be held at 5:30pm at the family home in Menifee.
