Timothy J Gates

Tim Gates, age 70, passed away at home in Murrieta, CA on February 18th surrounded by his family.

Tim was born and raised in St. Paul, MN, a graduate of Cretin HS, class of ‘70. He held the position of Student Counsel President in his Sr year. He was an athletic and competitive guy, played football, basketball and ran track in HS; and later loved sports such as golf and tennis. Tim spent time writing, and also had a deep appreciation for music.

In 1978 Tim visited Mary Pat where she was living in Sonoma County, CA. A years long friendship blossomed into a beautiful love affair. They moved back to MN, married and had Michael and Daniel. A career opportunity prompted Tim to move with his young family to Southern CA in 1989. After a successful career in insurance, Tim took an early retirement to focus on his health. In his later years, Tim’s two grandsons brought the brightest smiles to his handsome face. He will be remembered as a sensitive and loving husband, father and grandfather. Tim was a hardworking, loyal , and intelligent man.

Tim is preceded in death by parents Richard and Rosemary, and sisters Cindy, Rosie, and Margie, and brother Tom. He is survived by his wife Mary Pat (née Christensen), daughter Kathryn (Gene) Eller, sons Michael (Christina) and Daniel (Jennifer), and grandsons Everett and Rowan; as well as sisters Betsy (Brian) Randt, Pasty (Eligio Rollo) Gates, and Bridget (Tony) Ramos; and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Tim dearly loved his family. He will be missed by many; first and foremost Mary Pat, sons Michael (Christina) and Daniel (Jennifer), and grandsons Everett and Rowan.
