Victor Duane Mares

May 29, 1975 ~ September 30, 2019 (age 44)

Victor Duane Mares, dedicated father, brother and son passed away on September 29, 2019.


Victor was born in Norwalk on May 29, 1975, the third child of Jose and Irene Mares. The family moved to Lake Elsinore shortly after Victor was born. He attended Machado Elementary, Terra Cotta Middle School and graduated from Temescal Canyon High School in 1994. Always athletic, Victor played soccer and raced BMX bikes throughout his childhood and made the varsity football team as a freshman in high school.


Professionally, Victor went on to graduate from the LAPD police academy in 1999. His career with the LAPD continued for almost two decades as he worked primarily in gang enforcement and was assigned to a highly sought position with the Southeast Gang Enforcement Unit.


Personally, Victor was a devoted father to his two daughters and a faithful and loving son to his parents. He was especially dedicated to his mother in recent years. Victor was also a loyal friend, brother and uncle who cared deeply for those close to him.


Victor is preceded in death by his father, Jose. He is survived by his mother Irene, daughters Larissa and Kourtney, brother Vincent, sister Tavaughna, niece Maia and nephews Jesse, Jayme and Layne. Victor is also survived by the close friends who he loved as family.


A viewing will be held on Monday, October 7th from 5:30 to 9pm at Evans-Brown Mortuary, 27010 Encanto Dr, Sun City. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 8th from 9:30 to 11:30am at Lamb’s Fellowship, 21901 Railroad Canyon Rd, Lake Elsinore. A graveside service will follow the memorial at Lake Elsinore Cemetery.
