William Russell Clelland

William Russell Clelland “Bill” passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.  He was 77 years old.  Bill was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on July 17, 1941.  He was the son of Calvin Hoy and Sara Ruth Clelland, and the second of four children.

Bill will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife of 56 years, Jackie; three daughters, Cheri, Kathy and Debbie; son, Joe; son-in-law, David; daughter-in-laws Dawn and Jan; eight grandchildren, Brent, Megan, Candi, Josh, Carissa, Sarah, Christopher and Madeleine; six great grand grandchildren, Rylee, Ashlyn, Colton, Nathan, Brixton and Jenna; sisters Sally and Susan; nieces and nephews, Joy, Brenda, Terry, Scotty, Susan Ann, Diana, Bill, Sally and Missy.

Bill graduated from East Fairmont High in West Virginia in 1959.  That summer he moved to California.  Shortly thereafter he met the woman of his dreams, Ms. Jacqueline Kay.  They married April 14, 1961.  The family lived in California in the cities of Inglewood, LaMirada, East Anaheim, Riverside, Brea and Lake Elsinore.

Bill established his profession as a computer operator at North American Rockwell, later to become Boeing.  In 1995 Bill and Jackie moved to Lake Elsinore, California in preparation for retirement.  After 37 years of dedicated service in the aerospace industry, Bill retired in 1996 from Boeing.

Bill was a sports enthusiast, an avid bowler and loved being outdoors.  Everyone knew his love for the Mountaineers, the Raiders, and NASCAR.  He also enjoyed the game of darts and mahjong.  In his later years he enjoyed working the Sudoku puzzle from the daily paper.  He was a loving husband, caring father and devoted grandfather.  He was a good man who will be missed by all.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at Evans-Brown Chapel in Sun City.  Reception will immediately follow the service.
