Welcome to the memorial page for

Leslie Lee Campbell

August 4, 1945 ~ December 11, 2016 (age 71) 71 Years Old
Les Campbell, an Army veteran, former California Highway Patrol officer, and outdoor enthusiast, died on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016. He was 71.

For many years of his life, Les assumed the role of protector. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged having achieved the rank of E3. He graduated Golden West College’s Law Enforcement program in 1970, and was a CHP officer for four years, after which he worked in the security profession for nearly 20 years. Les preferred being around people whenever possible, and savored the art of “the deal”. Later in life he got into cycling and long-distance bicycle races. His passion for cycling, inspired by his sister, led him to open a bicycle store, Cycopath, in Nuevo, CA, which he operated for 20 years. He was known as a kind, hardworking, and caring man who enjoyed chatting and spending time with his customers, neighbors, family and friends. The Campbell family particularly thanks Mike Foley and Greg Mills for their friendship.

Leslie Lee Campbell was born August 4, 1945, in Alpena, MI, to Genevieve Louse and Leslie Grant Campbell. He married his love of 43 years, Lynn Zakas, on Nov. 19, 1973, in Running Springs, CA. They settled in Nuevo in 1986.

Les is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Zakas Campbell, son Robert Campbell (April Karys), of San Francisco; daughter April Parkins (Russell), and grandchildren Breanna Parkins and Nicole Parkins, of Ozark, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings David and Cheryl Campbell

The family invites everyone to join them after the funeral service at Riverside National Cemetery for a gathering/reception.

O you whom I have loved so much
on earth, pray for me and live in
such a manner that we may be
re-united for ever in a Blessed Eternity.

-St. Bonaventure
