Floyd Andrew Henry

Floyd “Andrew” Henry was the eldest son born to Floyd Richard and Dorothy Jean Henry on April 30, 1952 at Hoover Street Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He attended 118th Street Elementary School, Henry Clay Jr. High School, and Washington High School; where he graduated. Upon graduation, he served in the United Stated Air Force for 8 years. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked on the Alaskan pipelines for a few years. Then later returning to Los Angeles where he joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). While here he had many assignments as a patrol officer and a Forensic Firearm Specialist just to name a few. Although his most notable assignment was that of a gang enforcement officer as a part of their CRASH unit. He served 25 years with the LAPD and retired honorably. After which, he began his employment with the Riverside Police Department (RPD) as an Assistant Range Master. It was here that he trained police officers in the practical and effective use of firearms for 12 years until his retirement on July 28, 2016.
Andrew attended church at The Living Way Christian Fellowship where he was a member.
Andrew was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His many hobbies included cooking, arts and crafts, gardening, and martial arts; Taekwondo specifically. For 25 years Andrew was a Master Instructor at Yushen Lai’s Taekwondo Academy in Carson, California. He was very active as a recreational vehicle enthusiast. He was a member of the Faithful Comrades “Faicoms” RV Klub. He also served as an active member of the C.O.P.S (Cops Out Preaching Salvation) Ministry where they would spread the Gospel of the Lord to inmates in various prisons throughout the country.
He leaves to cherish in his memories his wife Avis Henry, parents: Floyd and Dorothy Henry, three children: daughter Kesi and son Nicholas (born to his first wife Doris) and daughter Alexis (born to his second wife Alice), two step-children: Shavaughn and Jason, four grandsons: Dwayne, Jalan, Nicholas, and Nathan and two granddaughters: Laila and Ahli’on.
He also preceded his siblings to the gates of Heaven; sisters: Donna Henry, Wanita Terry, and Jeanette Henry, brother Richard Henry, sister-in-law Dortheney Henry and aunt Delores Davis along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
