Stanley Bruce Smith

Stanley “Stan” Bruce Smith, born July 5th, 1939, passed away Tuesday August 8, 2017 in Murrieta California. He is survived by his son Mark of Beaumont California; his son Kevin and his family, Tanya, Timothy, Samantha, and Sydney of Murrieta California.

Stan was born in Pomona California the oldest of seven children. Stan attended local schools and graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario California in 1957. After graduation Stan joined the Navy for two years of active duty serving on the USS Toledo CA133 and the USS Hana DE499, followed by four years in the reserves. Stan married his wife of 46 years, Verna Irene “Bunny” at the Pomona First Baptist Church in 1961. Stan worked as a skilled precision machinist and mechanic. He then became a draftsman and worked 11 years for General Dynamics in Pomona on military defense, space and early computer projects. In 1968, Stan began working in the Lake Elsinore - Temecula Valley selling Real Estate. In 1974 he moved his family to the valley and continued to work as a Real Estate Broker in the valley for the next 49 years. He was active in community affairs in the valley during that time and served on the Wildomar Interest League, Wildomar Municipal Advisory Committee, and Wildomar Incorporation now advocating for cityhood. Stan also served as a Wildomar City Planning Commissioner and a Riverside County Fair Commissioner up until the time of his death.

Predeceased by his wife, “Bunny”, son Timothy Paul Smith, parents Morris Rex and Ruby Elizabeth Smith, brothers, James Arthur and Randle Dean Smith. A viewing will be held August 19, at 9:00 am, followed by services at 10:00 am at Cornerstone Church 34570 Monte Vista Dr. Wildomar, California. Stan will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside California. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Stan’s name.
